Finteq was honoured to be a part of Namclear’s 20th Anniversary celebration, which was recently held at the magnificent Droombos Luxury Estate in Windhoek. This milestone marks two decades of a strong and successful partnership between our two companies.
Our Journey Together began in 2004
Finteq supplied Namclear with a simple file transferer. This initial interaction opened the door to a deeper relationship, culminating in a Request for Proposal (RFP) in 2011 for the NCSP Project. This project aimed to modernise and replace Namclear’s Clearing House, beginning a transformative journey towards payments modernisation.
In collaboration with Traderoot, Finteq successfully modernised and localised the payment clearing and settlement system for EFT and card transactions within Windhoek. This initial phase had minimal impact on the operations of Namibian banks, ensuring a smooth transition.
Our commitment to continuous improvement...
…led to further modernisation in 2016 when we started the PSD7 project to implement interoperable ISO 20022 standards within the Clearing House. The first phase of this modernisation went live in 2020, followed by the first maintenance release in 2023.
The implementation of this robust and modern EFT system paved the way for the discontinuation of cheque payments in Namibia in 2019. This significant step forward reflects the effectiveness of our partnership with Namclear in driving innovation and efficiency within the Namibian payments landscape
Along with celebrating our 20th anniversary, Namclear also unveiled a new logo at the event, symbolising their renewed commitment to serving the Namibian financial sector. We are proud to have played a part in their journey and look forward to continuing our partnership in the future.
